The 150th anniversary of Serpentara is an occasion for reflection: in 1873, artists saved the oak grove in Olevano Romano, Italy, from deforestation. Today, Villa Serpentara is a residence for scholarship holders of the Academy. In 15 contributions, artists of Serpentara, contemporary witnesses, and art scholars explore the myth, the visual motif, and the narratives surrounding the famous oak forest and offer new approaches to its history.
